I've been out with friends tonight but it was just a couple of pints of beer in the bar of the Ipswich Novotel (which is one of the few places that's open tonight in Ipswich where you can get a quiet drink).

However those friends live in Italy and they've brought me a rather fine bottle of oak-aged grappa, which might possibly get opened around midnight ;-)

Actually, I've had a couple of glasses of wine with my dinner - and I think I'm pretty sober. We have yet to open the bottle of bubbly lurking in the fridge, however. :)

My brother and wife phoned to say Happy NY.....they are going to bed early......daughter texted with the same....looked in the sitting room and my guest is asleep on the sofa.....I am older than any of them!
So I am opening a bottle of red.....and have nobody to share it with.....oh well.... ;-)
