23d. Daft curves (5) L???Y
I have LOOPY but due to it affecting 26a, I'm also suspecting LARKY (due to meaning of frolicsome or mischievious) and ARK or ARC for curves.

26a. Coincide and start off to manage collapse (7) R?N???E
I have RANSOME because it's all I can find that fits - but there's just no logic or reason.
Ran seems the wrong tense for manage. So RUN would be more logical. Also reference to collapse could imply a cricket connection, so RUN would be more appropriate.
All I can think of is RUNFREE - which would provide the R for 23d if it was LARKY

26 Syncope ?

Bit confused here, but where does your 'R' come from in 26a?
If 'loopy' is correct then what pattern have you for 26a?
26a iffy oversee?
Might it be concurs?
Runs = manage :- collapse (i.e.) anag ?

I am struggling with the rest but could it be something to do with start of Coincide + first letter of Collapse i.e. Coc?

26a. Coincide and start off to manage collapse (7) S?N???E
Originally had word beginning with R. This was wrong as the down clued answer is REVOLUTIONIST and not REVOLUTIONARY as I previously had. 5th letter would be O if 23d LOOPY is correct - or R if LARKY is correct (although LOOPY seems more likely).
26 Syncope ?
Ignore that, miles away
As you were

Sync (coincide) + (C)ope - start off manage.

Syncope, a collapse
Well done mamyalynne!
26a Syncope (Sync - c) + cope (= manage)

Syncope def = a spontaneous loss of consciousness caused by insufficient blood to the brain (i.e. a collapse)
Question Author
Has to be SYNCOPE
Not sure of SYN part of it but COPE and manage go together. And the meaning of SYNCOPE refers to vowels removed from inside a word so could be referring to collapse. Also means 23d is LOOPY rather than the unlikely LARKY

Thanks all
Ta.
Sync(hronise) synonym for coincide (to occur simultaneously).
We agree.
