What do you mean "cheats" ? If you are alluding to the fact that people ask for crossword answers on here..why not? Its called Answerbank. If you have exhausted all other possibilties eg.dictionaries,Google etc why not post on here.Apart from that
it's harmless fun to connect with like minded peopleand shre knowledge. As for "win at all costs" ..what's that got to do with anything? I have been sending in the DT crossword for donkeys years and never won a sausage. Politics are not discussed on here either. If you want to do that post your views in News.

Well said shaneystar.

I finish DT Saturdays cryptic every week but have given up sending it in.

I still want to finish the general knowledge crosswords so I post on here.  Never send these in either.

THIS SITE  is very good and a friendly little group who are not cheats how can you be we buy the papers and with the cost of them at the W/ends its for pleasure have you not heard of keeping the old grey matter ticking over  and its good to help each other, and have fellow intellects to gain and impart knowledge, many never win anything, and there are thousands of crosswords sent in 30 thousand was quoted for the Express some years ago, IF the crossword ever arrives at the P.O BOX  then the chances of your envelope being picked is luck along but its nice to think that some of us would win I've won a few small prizes and its nice to get the cheque in the post.Competitions are harmless fun and pleasure and you will find crosswords in all the papers The Times crossword I've done for years and it would be a joy to win that and get name in the Times or Telegraph. I can't see why you ask about cheats they are Tricksters, double crossing people. we puzzlers are not we pay for the Papers, envelopes and stamps, shoe leather to the post box, do you do crosswords perhaps should try can learn a lot of world knowledge, Good Luck to everyone who have got answers today,  I brought four top class papers so know all about politics and as I say we are professional people ourselves.

I agree basically with the answers here - especially shaneystar's. But I do empathise with the questioner to a certain extent. Some people post strings of questions from one quiz when they certainly HAVEN'T exhausted every other possibilty - sometimes they clearly haven't even etered the keywords into Google or even visited imdb etc. The other 'group' who really make my blood boil are those who do cryptic crosswords but don't understand how they work, making wild unjustifiable guesses just because the letters fit. Aaaargh!

There are two things that really annoy me and they are:

1. People who ask for a string of questions without trying to find the answers themselves.

2. people who do not have the common courtesy to make an aknowledgement when their question(s) have been answered.

I think calling people on this site "cheats"is rather unfair. For the most of us we have tried and tried to find an answer and there is nothing more frustrating than being stuck for one solution. For my part,I am so pleased to see that there are so many daft souls like myself who put themselves through the agonies of crosswording (I still love them though!) Also, the prizes are not mega bucks or anything like that - it is the feeling of great satisfaction when one finishes a puzzle. And as for the Rainbow quiz - if all the people who are asking for help enter the competition, that is a lot of money for charity.

So,please do not begrudge us our little pleasure.

In my book it is cheating to hand in someone elses work as your own in an attempt to get a reward.Following the logic of some replies it is alright for a GCSE candidate to get his tutor etc. to do his coursework!

The point I was trying to make was that most cheats seem to subscribe to the Mail, the Telegraph or the Express and we all know the Politics of these newspapers.I do not recollect seeing a question about a crossword in the Independant, the Guardian or the Observer.

I am glad that, when I won first prize(a hallmarked sterling silver Cross Townsend fountain pen) for the Sunday Times Crossword a few months ago, I had not cheated.

Well, I expect that makes you feel very holy, Old Labour. But what are you doing on this site if you are not looking for answers? If you are simply trying to start a discussion about the politics of different newspapers then I suggest you find another more appropriate site.
So...you seem to have waded through hundreds of answers on here to see who reads which newspaper. And the "cheats" read the Mail,Telegraph and Express...or so you seem to surmise." Old labour "and you read the Times, run by the one of the biggest capitalists going. I don't think all the people on here send their crosswords in anyway. It's a hobby which lots of people enjoy doing and politics has nothing to do with it.Certain papers have better crosswords then others.Don't come on here trying to upset people who enjoy a harmless hobby. If you want to air your views about politics post in News or Chatterbank.Go away and take your wooden spoon with you. There are bigger cheats in the world than cruciverbalists..namely a lot of politicians!
