Oh this is so frustrating! Are we looking too deeply - are the answers there but more simple than we are making them ?

Wise words furrypussycat and Dave, you are always helpful.
Thankyou Mamya - furrypussycat I appreciate what you say, it's just that I felt that some of the postings on this quiz appeared to be a bit secretive. However I know that we will all try to help whenever possible as that was the object of becoming 'enrolled'.

Thanks Davemano and Leecon. if and when I get 51 and 44 I shall certainly let you know. I recall granny grump saying we would let each other know when we got the answers but she must have forgotten
Question Author
Leecon - probably clutching at straws but I have a new line of enquiry. I've found that the man in black was an original name for the devil, also known as 'Old Nick' (3,4). Now all we need to do is find another name for the devil that is 5,8. Simples
Oh lawdy lawdy, Maisie Doats and Davemano, we sure seem to have stirred up a can of worms!! Very rarely can I help others because usually on the ones that I know, then others seem to answer before I get a chance. Thank you for that clue with 'old nick', I will have a search around. I had noticed that some of the people who are usually very vocal, have now gone very quiet for some reason?!?
Maisie Doats - did we get any further with these two as I really need to get the quiz posted. Everyone gone quiet that wanted help before so I assume they have all guessed the answer except us ??
Thanks Davemano and Maisie for your help x
Question Author
Sorry Leecon, every evening I'm just going over and over the same pages. I either get a suitable first part and no second or vice versa. I think I shall start a new thread, there maybe someone out there who hasn't been following our posts. I hate sending in a quiz without a reasonable answer (even if it's wrong) but as you say it soon needs to be posted.
Question Author
Leecon - had some response to new thread. Interesting one for Q51 was
Old Nick/ devil incarnate.
Good idea Maisie Doats with the new thread - the only trouble is 'devil incarnate' is 9 letters, we need 8 ?
It was nice to get some new ideas from some new people though.
The suggestion doesn't fit the rules if the second part has to be original name at birth - as posted.
Oh this is so frustrating! Are we looking too deeply - are the answers there but more simple than we are making them ?
Question Author
Leecon - this is what it does to you ! I counted it twice and got 8. But you're right it is 9. Perhaps we are looking to deeply. What on earth can the easy answer be then?
Davemano - it is either a birth name or former name. The rules seem flexible because one answer to another question was 'the incredible hulk' / David Banner. David Banner wasn't his birth name but a fictitious former name. No wonder we're confused - well, some of us anyway.
Maisie - if David Banner is correct it isn't in line with the rules. Be interesting to know what the clue was for that question.
Question Author
Davemano - the clue was 'had a mind so brilliant it cannot be measured on any known intelligence test' (3,10,4 / 5,6). There are others too such as Darth Vader / Anakin Skywalker. See what we're up against ? However, it still is a really good quiz - no fun if it's too easy but being do-able would help. :)
It would seem to me there is some confusion with the rules as to me these is no difference between a birth name and a real name. It looks as if a real name could be the actors screen part before transformation, if you see what I mean.
Maisie Doats / Davemano - it also says on my quiz sheet after the bit about 'birth or former name of that person. The answers may be people who are real of fictitious"
I am even more confused now!?
leecon - a pity this was not made known earlier, it would have made things a bit easier, and it does cater for the answers like David Banner and Anakin Skywalker.
Though it does go contrary to your post 01.31 3.11.15
For anyone not having the quiz, the above rules under the main heading are a quite ambiguous.
Anyhow we'll keep trying.
Yes Davemano, it does seem a bit ambiguous but looking at the clues and answers that I have so far, it seems that if a person is real, he/she seems to have a former or birth name. If the answer is fictitious, then they seem to have a fictitious former/ birth name ie. david banner and The Incredible Hulk? My head is now spinning over these two clues - I can't believe that someone who has found the answer, can't help or guide us along the right lines?
GG said on page 1 that she had Elmore Rudolph for Q51, and wondered if the letter count was wrong
Yes, but now the rules say birth OR former name . The Incredible Hulk former name was David Banner, but that was not his name. But as you say, the former name is allowed.
When I first looked at this quiz I thought the answers were something on the lines of Michael Caine who was Maurice Micklewhite - but it is a bit deeper than that.
