Another good set of clues from Jaguar formed around a nice puzzle. Have had a children free weekend so it was a leisurely morning lie in (till 8.00! the luxury!) with some real coffee, a fried egg with toast made from white bread and a fun EV. This is what Sundays are all about.
Thank you Jaguar, look forward to the next one.

Agree with you Cagey. One of my favourite books. Did not help though that the bottom line of the grid was not printed properly in the paper.
After a slow start a few perimeter words gave me the source which speeded things up.
Enjoyable clues especially those with the missing letter.
The theme is a personal favourite, so many thanks Jaguar from me too
Glad you all enjoyed it. Hopefully the truncated grid hasn't put people off from attempting the thing, but if anyone wants a copy then they can send a message on to the EV Editor.
A very enjoyable puzzle with some cleverly set clues.

I got the theme relatively early on as it is one of my favourite
novels.

A pity that a production error meant that the grid had to manually
completed & I hope the editor apologises to Jaguar for 'spoiling'
his work.

I look forward to the next Jaguar challenge.
Great fun, though perhaps not as pleasing a treatment of the theme as recently in another place.

Kayakamina, I suspect it was not the crossword (EV) editor, and almost certainly not Jaguars fault, that the bottom line of the grid was missing. The online version of the puzzle was correct, so it must have been the printers or setters that messed up.
It is a shame, but given the group of people that solve this type of puzzle it should not prove to be much of an obstacle.
Mistake?......
Have been struggling with 22D (which I think is quite important to the theme!).
Have found the correct answer (6 letters), but the grid entry (7 letters) has an extra letter at the end that doesn't fit the clue?
That's probably due to the printing error that removed the bottom row as well as one or two bars, including the one at the end of 22dn, which is indeed supposed to be 6 letters long. There are three other bars along the bottom of the 12th row in the printed version, whose locations can be inferred from the 180-degree symmetry.

Doh!
Obvious now (the clue says it's 6 letters as well).
Trailing along in the rear, as usual, but really enjoyed this one. Was fortunate in that I have the on-line version, so I had a perfect grid.
Any sign of Devadolly? Perhaps she's submerged in apples.
