Thank you. Obviously the name changed to Brownies, but that name just does not fit into the crossword [letters.] Stumped.
I think Brownie is the right answer
What is the clue?
Question Author
The clue is - a prominent citizen of a century ago [ citizen kane] [orson welles appears in the crossword] who is associated with the name ROSEBUD [ also appearing in the crossword] - resulting in a name being adopted the following year. The answer has 7 letters [ none are definite - many options], but I gave some in me first posting. Very hard to explain without seeing the crossword - it is the inquisitor.
A pity you can't put Powells
Calibax is correct...
There is another thread on Inquisitor 1322 which may help.

'Brownie' would mean that every one of gillie's possibilities is wrong. Back to the drawing board, perhaps.
Also, is there a prominent citizen named Brownie??
