on Pointless tonight one of the questions was. what hymn did James Herriot take the title of his book from, the answer was "All creatures great and small" which I know is the title of his books but surely the hymn was" All things bright and beautiful" Or did I misunderstand the question.

All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small
... are the first 2 lines of the hymn.
I didn't watch it (can't stand it!) but, from what you're saying, you were right and they were wrong.

There was a question on The Chase the other day: "What language was spoken in Ancient Rome?" :-)
I think you misunderstood. The question asked for the name of the T.V. series. I made the same mistake.

It was The Vicar of Dibley one I argued with. I'm sure the theme tune is not 'The Lord's My Shepherd'.
The theme tune to The Vicar of Dibley is indeed the 23rd psalm, Tilly.
He took the title of the book from the hymns lyrics, not from the title of the hymn.

I know the first 2 lines frugalfred but they wanted the title of the hymn. thank you for your answer though.
I shall listen very carefully the next time I see an episode of T V o.D.
The hymn is ---''All things bright and beautiful'' and the second line is ''All creatures great and small''
I didn't see the programme so I can't say what the actual question was.
They didn't want the title of the hymn. They wanted the title of the series.

Tilly the question was what hymns not series
it's definately the lord is my sheppard tilly, it's just not crimmond
Question Author
oh well i'll watch it again on catch up just to satisfy myself thanks though

The music is Goodall, rather than the one we are more used to, ie Crimmond.
I tried watching it on iPlayer but gave up after the guy who thought that the river Seine flowed through Vienna.
Thanks, jeffa. That is not the same tune that I know as The Lord's My Shepherd. That seems to be the problem. Thank you for confirming it though.
Your one is the Crimond version Tilly, I think.
Off the top of your head Jeffa, how big is Neptune?. Try not to be so judgmental
