I can see where you are coming from Tilly, but apparently the Winter Solstice will be on December 21 2013 17:11 GMT, which is a Saturday.

I took the 11 - 12am as 11am - 12 noon? (It is a pet hate of mine, using 12am and 12pm!)

I know that the Friday is the 20th, sp and that the Solstice is the 21st. It just happened to fit the number of letters.
