The clue is - our wee queen is sixty -

It makes somehow a popular tv programme aired in the UK and i cannot work it out. It may be an anagram or just cryptic. Please please can someone help me with this.

How many letters?
Question Author

I dont know i am afraid. It doesnt say how many letters or how many words the answer is.

It has me baffled completely. Thankyou for replying and i hope you can fathom it better than me.

All I can think of is ER.
Question Author
ER is as far as i got too only problem being where does the sixty come into play ??
I tried an anagram site and entered in the whole phrase.  I got nothing that made any sense, or even jogged my memory about a programme.  It's bugging me now too - so I'll also work on it! :-)

Is it definitely a tv programme, not a tv "star"?

Only I thought of 60 as diamond, and came up with Anne Diamond.  Given that there was a Queen Anne and she was also a daytime TV queen.

It's pretty weak though!

don't know if this helps any, but the shortest British queen was Matilda
Question Author

Thanks everyone for your help so far. See what i mean it is a teaser. The correct way of the clue is :-

our wee queen is '60

Any more ideas gratefully received.

Is this a crossword? cos it must have the amount of letters. Or is it a quiz? You've got me going now.

Could be one of those gridless crosswords where you don't know how long the word is until you get going.

Just a thought.

I'm still so stuck on it!!!! :-s

Question Author

Hi, You guys are so king helping me try to work this out. Unfortunately it is part of a quiz sheet for fundraising for a local special needs school and doesnt have any further details of the answer. No amount of letters - nothing !!

Just to give yu an idea of some of the others which we got :-

- A short vacation near metropolitan area -

- Sort of trade sense -

- The Best Dad -

Those give you an idea of what some of the other questions were. They are solved in different ways. See how you fair with those and hopefully it will give you an insight into the way the clues have been done and help with the seemingly impossible one.

Cheers again everyone i really appreciate all your help. I hope collectively someone can solve it.

I think there was a tv prog. called QED
Q- wee queen
E- Elizabeth
D- diamond wedding
I may be wrong.
Very clever logic cherrybomb - if that's not it, then it should be!!! :-)
Question Author

Hi thanks again everyone. Thats an excellent suggestion Cherrybomb. I think though that its maybe a bit too difficult for us to work out because i wouldnt be clever enough to have ever thought of that.

Its a very difficult one and of course the only one we have to get.

Please guys keep them coming. Surely we will get there eventually.

Thanks again cherrybomb i think that if thats not the answer that it should be.

Hi

Does the fact that sixty is written '60 indicate it could be short for 1960?

What are the answers to those other clues?!  I haven't got an idea on any of them!

Question Author

Hi, I would think that the '60 is significant in some way but i have no idea how. The answers to the others are

Holby City

Eastenders

Top of the Pops

I hope someone can work out the answer cause it is driving me Crraaazy !!

I am now sure that QED must be correct. I have played around with 60 in roman numerals andeverything else I can think of,, all short forms of Elizabeth, including Bess (the Scottish hint) and still no good.

I think the other poster is correct, although QED was rather 'high brow' and not of popular appeal.
I am thinking Monarch of the Glen but I do not know why.

I returned tonight to see what other posters thought the answer could be (thanks for your nice comments)

khali1 you must tell us the correct answer when you find out.

Question Author

Hi, thanks again for all your help. Funny i thought of Monarch of the Glen but also like you i couldnt really find a connection with the '60 part.

Yes please be sure everyone that the minute i know the answer i will post it onto the website immediately.

All your help is very much appreciated.
