In a pub quiz last night it was stated that the uk is the only country not to have the name of the country on their stamps.
Surely not!
Anybody confirm?

I heard that and is because we started them.
Britain is the only country whose postage stamps do not feature the name of the country issuing them. This is because Britain was the first country to produce stamps.

The UK remains the only country not to identify itself by name on postal stamps as it simply uses the current monarch’s head as implicit identification
It may be true that there have been some obscure editions printed for internal post in the countries on that list, but as a rule the answer is deemed correct.

Yes, I thought it was a well known fact.
Me too, I thought it was well-known.
I only knew that fact as I'm married to a philatelist. (Boring, maybe, but very useful for geography questions in quizzes!)
