One answer needed and the second to be verified.

14A. Champion goat, clever Alberta (6)
?BLEC?

Need verification for this answer.
21D. Take pre-main course (not second) - not something you want in grand volume (6)

I have RETREE. (R + ENTREE, missing second which is N)

Where does the first R come from and what does retree mean?

Thanks in advance.

AB(LE)CH, clever = ABLE, goat = LECH.

take = recipe = R; retree = "In paper-making, broken, wrinkled, or imperfect paper: often marked xx on the bundle or in the invoice."

Thanks dr b.
Could see "able" but not lech.

Also Google does not give me definition of retree.
So much obliged.
onelook.com is an excellent on-line dictionary for these sorts of occasions.

I just tried onelook.com and looked up retree.

Wow! Both Collins and Phrontistery had the meaning.

Thanks for pointing me to a valuable resource. I have bookmarked it.
