The only thing I can find is that they may both have attended St. Paul's School in London. There may be something more obvious but I could't find it...

Thanks for that, as you say nothing very obvious and I couldn't find it.
Neither of them have had a guest appearence in Eastenders.
They are both human.
They are both English.

Does the quiz have a theme?

Mixed sections of general knowledge questions. This question is in the section headed Noteworthy People.
Their first names both have 8 letters?
Both laid the groundwork for great advances by others? Chaucer established English, of sorts, as a literary language when French was still prominent.
FRanklin did work which was used by Crick + Wilson in the work on DNA

Loosely, but cannot see a solid connection - Chaucer did write The Franklin's Tale -
