If these clues are based on sound only, there is a 7-letter place in Ayrshire which opens with the letters 'Bro'. The next four I'm sure AnswerBank won't allow me to print, but suffice to say they are the short form of Richard. That word is also slang for detective, whilst the 'bro' part sounds very like 'braw', the Scottish word for 'handsome'. So, stringing the parts together produces something that sounds very much as if it means 'handsome detective'. (Sorry for the roundabout approach, but I didn't know how else to get there!)
