Stapling chipboard to rafters

What sort of stapler is best for attaching 3 or 4mm chipboard to rafters? The one I use seems incapable of attaching it firmly.

Even then, one needs to be careful when cutting the joints to center each board on its rafter exactly 1/2 to have enough board to screw into...

That's quite a thickness for anything in the realm of diy. I would go with Clanad's method............ and a cordless drill/screwdriver.
