Using Mobile Phones ..... or Not. :o/

My husband bought me a really nice mobile phone, but it had a ‘touch’ screen (or whatever they’re called) and I simply couldn’t touch exactly the bits I needed to touch, so I’ve got one with buttons again now. It was so frustrating. I thought my fairly long nails were the problem, but I know several other people with long nails who manage perfectly well. Is anyone else hopeless with touch screen phones?

I struggle with it on my iPhone when I'm trying to write a text. I think my fingers are a bit too fat and I keep hitting the wrong keys.

I love my touch screen. I had to go back to using buttons when this one was in the shop and I hated it :|
I was like you, I had a very old mobile phone, said I didn't need one that could play music, take pictures etc, all I wanted to do was to text and make phone calls UNTIL my kids got a HTC wildfire each, I had a go on their phones and I couldn't get the hang of the touch screen at first, it took a little while and playing a few games helped as you don't always have to be too specific but are just getting used to how it responds, so much so that in the end I got one of my own, I love it now and it is really is worth persevering with. I have fairly long nails too.

Evian, I have slim fingers, but I'm still hopeless at it. :o(
Yes...but I put it down to the fact that the phone is crap. I can't scroll down without selecting something. Very frustrating.

I think the problem is when the phone has a plastic screen instead of a glass one like the iphone. I can't wait to get a new one..
i get frustrated with my pc monitor's as i keep touching the screen to move things about

i love my touchscreen phone
I use a stylus with mine, I was forever missing the screen icons with my fingers.
sometimes recalibrating helps or use a cotton bud instead of tyour finger tip
I use an iphone, the only way I could answer it in the cold weather when I was wearing gloves was to activate the slide control with my nose as it wouldn't respond to a gloved finger.
:o)
Some of them, like iPhones won't work with a stylus or cotton bud, they respond to the heat from your hands.
its not the heat, is like touch lamps, there is a very very low current flowing through the scree and your touch "earths" it so the phone knows where you finger is. You can get stylii for iphones now, also gloves that work.
Me, I preferred the first mobile phone I ever had with huge buttons and like a brick. But then I don't really like mobile phones and rarely use them. Grumpy Old Woman syndrome!!!
Get a Samsung Galaxy Note, everything is much bigger and you get an interactive stylus with it, I love my touch screen.
I have an old phone but my friend has just offered me his old Apple iphone. Should I take him up on his offer I wonder?
I love my iphone. That is a generous offer on the part of your friend.
Is it? Oh I didn't realise. He gets them for free with his contract. Ah I suppose you mean he could sell it. How much would it fetch?
I'm with the use them to make calls and text brigade although the cameras in some of the new ones make them quite tempting
depends on the model, go look on ebay. he doesn't get then free with his contract, the contract costs him more because of the phone, he has paid for it every month! If this wasn't the case then a contract with a phone would only cost the same as a sim only contract.
lol @ fluff..................I've got a touch screen PC.
