stab in the dark. but doesn't Ersa (anag of ears) mean before (in poetry) as in yesturday ?
60. could be Cobs (as in ears of corn) and the horses called cobs, but I don't know where yesterday comes in to it ?

Thank you shooty, will see if I can find a horse called "ersa" otherwise I cannot see the connection, am I being "thick"? This quiz has really tested me.

Thank you shoota for your suggestion but the definition of postilion fits, elliemay1 the other answers are all associated with horses, e.g. exmoor. mule, ostler
60. Another shot in the dark here, as others have asked a similar question, could it be herd? As in, a herd of horses ?? rather than a breed?? which would also answer the question, ears did this yesterday?
