Did anyone hear that huge booming noise about 10 mins ago?!?!? Sounded like an explosion or something?!?!

i was thinking it could be a thunderbolt. There are alot of people saying it was various things. plane crash, sonic boom etc. I live very close to the airport and i have not seen any aircraft coming in or out which is very unusual!

You can listen to the news coming in on BBC Radio Leeds at the moment. People are ringing in about the bang.

BIG BANG UPDATE - Thanks for your messages about the loud bang in Harrogate this afternoon. It is thought to be a sonic boom caused by a low-flying aircraft. Geological experts say there was no earthquake recorded in the area and the Met Office confirmed that there were no major weather problems that could have caused the bang. Police have not found any evidence of an explosion or any other incident which may have caused the noise
