Which dolls were inspired by legend and became popular in 1961

Could be gonks, which were inspired by trolls of ancient mythology and legend - I recall there was a craze for them in the early sixties.

Trolls? I remember my school friends and I having a craze on them , though that would be late 60's not early.

Trolls may have still been popular in the late 60's, but they certainly began in the v early 60's - I know how old I was at the time (we used to make our own to sell at school fetes).
