1 col-umbo
2 Avery long shot-Lewis? (actor called Day-Lewis.Take Day away-Lewis
Quinie really clever, been wracking my brains
Question Author
Quinie - Thanks for helping. I don't get columbo, sorry. Also not sure that Lewis is right as I already have Lewis as another answer, which is Part of the Outer Hebrides (5).
col = pass
umbo = boss (centre of a shield etc)
col is a word meaning a mountain pass and umbo is the name for the boss in the middle of a shield - clever clue and clever quinie for working it out!
Question Author
Now I get it! A bit too clever for me though! Thank you.
Question Author
Any other ideas for Away Day (5)?
too clever for me as well. Quinie is not to be taken lightly.
I see you have just joined AB-welcome. Re no2 I'll have another think.Re Columbo col is a mountain pass-a narrow passage through mountains. As soon as I got col I thought Columbo-googled umbo -it's the boss of a shield. If you google it you'll get the info on it
Was there a detective called Harvey HARRIS in a comic?
