It is not just about it being a phase, you have to teach them it is wrong to do so, even at this young age. You say ' we do not do that' and remove her from the situation, place her in a quiet corner until she calms down, but always explain it is wrong to hit, kick, etc - if you wait she will keep it in her behaviour.
Hit, kick or pinch her. That would get the message through that it's not nice...
she will stop doing this when her parents make sure that she knows that this behaviour is not acceptable.

In a similar circumstance I have given like for like to a child and never encountered the bad behaviour from them from that day to this.
I agree with the ladies above.

Although I do think a toddler needs a good tantrum now and then...just to get all there frustrations out.
the terrible twos will go, just be firm in telling her that its not the way to react.

just you wait til the "threenage" phase
A slap perhaps?
Red....you wait...lol
I`ve just been on the local buses in Los Angeles with all the little hispanic kids. They seemed as quiet as mice and content too, sitting on their mum`s laps. I got back to the UK and within 5 minutes what do I see? The screaming kid having a tantrum and sounding like someone`s torturing him. Seems prevalent in the UK (and America) I can never understand why or maybe I can..
<<<She will stop doing this when her parents make sure she knows that this behaviour is not acceptable>>> And there`s the rub
Slap (not hard ) the legs then remove from room & isolate in a harness situation somewhere she can not do herself any harm, to be returned to living room after a while. .After several goes at this she will soon learn to behave, also suspend privileges
sweeties,toys etc.Ron.
