For 10a, I can see 'Thinness' (insubstantial quality), but can't parse the clue...
NN = two notes
E = E
Es is another way of saying Eb (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Note)

I've always wished I'd had better music classes at school, though I can sing & drum a bit... :-)
