I know that this composer is a bete noire for some of us, but this particular offering is accessible: do have a go at it, it's very rewarding. There's some delightful cluing, amusing in parts - and ribald (32 ac is my favourite). My way in was through 23 ac, once one has a few intersecting letters from down answers that work can be guessed, which leads to the originator and hence to the other works.

Great stuff! Thanks to Oxymoron, I feel compelled to celebrate with a small(-ish) glass of 'Ladies who shoot their lunch' (Strathbogie Shiraz), which I also recommend highly.

This one was pretty straightforward, but enough twists to keep me interested. I was aided by a high degree of familiarity with the "originator". Very cleverly constructed, as always.

It's interesting to note that there are two possible 2-letter combos, in the 6th spot (ie letters 11 & 12 of the hint), that could accurately describe the originator. I was waylaid for a few minutes by fixating on the wrong two!
Hello Speravi,
Not as challenging as many of Mr O's offerings, although I suspect there was a shriek of anguish when Devadolly saw the name of the compiler!

I'm just about to start preparing dinner, with the help of a large cryptically clued "notable complaint". Dinner will be washed down with a Tempranillo.
fairly straightforward offering from the workhorse that is Oxymoron/Schadenfreude. I also had to get 23 across before it all fell into place. Clever use of the barred cells. Time for a glass of Sauvignon blanc. Cheers!
A pleasant Sunday afternoon solve. Nothing too taxing, but soundly put together. It's a pint of Landlord for me, I'm afraid. Am I on the wrong forum?
Yes,enjoyable, tho' I'm not very familiar with the originator, Google helped out.I'll join Midazolam in a glass of sauvignon later on. Cheers!
'Evening All as the original TV cop would say! Sorry about the phantom post earlier, was trying to find out if there 'was anyone there' and hit the wrong key! Events intervened..............and then............ have seen the perp for this week and was very brave and didn't panic (was expecting HIM as last week's was not taxing). So far have managed more than my usual first offering for the dreaded Mr O but am floundering ne'er the less and only have the first letter of the (in all your clever cloggsis eyes) oh so easy 23ac, haven't the faintest idea of what to Google so will retire to DC and recharge the batteries with a White Lady cocktail (found some Cointreau left from Xmas and a lemon left over from making the Elderflower Cordial) and concentrate on finishing my part of painting the outside of the Hovel tomorrow. Regards to all
A reasonably straightforward puzzle and definitely easier than the last by Dr O. Unlike the above I got to the theme through the hint and the unchecked letters. DD I think this may be the one to put your Dr O demons to rest. Thanks Oxymoron, an enjoyable sunday afternoon work out!
The Joglers are still on parental duties in sunny Devon (so no hardship here!) but I do have a nifty dongle and more than enough time (ah, if only that were all one needed!) to work through both the Listener and today's EV. Some fairly straightforward cluing from Mr O (ie even I managed a few clues) and the extra letters and 23 across combined created a sensible google phrase. What are we going to do for the rest of the week....
Jogler, someone has helpfully posted a link to another crossword on this week's Listener thread - alternatively you could always try Kite Boarding....
As others have said, a reasonably straightforward puzzle from Oxymoron but still enjoyable.

I'm not quite sure what dr b is referring to with an alternative two letter combo of the 11th & 12th letters which I have as V E.

Possibly I'm missing something.
I think the alternative would be BE
Indeed, Andrew.
Hi everybody!

Just popping in to say "Hello" before uploading some marks. Still working on 921 but hope to get chance to look at this later in the week.
Happy solving!
Hello Novalis,
Pleased to see you have a few moments to pop in to visit the EV thread.Marking is apparently quite demanding, seems to me you need to take a well desreved holiday afterwards.
Not sure about the kiteboarding - ........! We could take up twitching - there have been an awful lot of people with cameras and telescopes tripping us up so I think there has been something exciting in the bird world flying around.
Found this very accessible for an Oxymoron offering. Liking the author helped.
Hello to anyone still there. Afraid I haven't had a chance to spend more than 5 mins with Mr O and am not very further forward. Too many raspberries/gooseberries/etc to harvest/freeze/jam to do more than eat or sleep, I think I may need a hint as have only found 3 definate and 3 possible from the 8...................
Did find time to go to the excellent Peter Pan in the Park last night, anyone near enough to Williamson's Park in Lancaster should try and make this excellent production, particularly targeted to children the producer told us but we adults thoroughly enjoyed it - Himself particularly!!
If it helps devadolly 3 of the eight are across clues and the rest down.
DD, solider on with it and I am absalutely sure you can pile on the answers...
Devadolly, to further add to Andrew G-S's excellent hint: there's a blot on the landscape....but not for ancient Egyptians.
