You know your limitations when you can't see the wordplay for an answer that has been given in more time than it takes for some to finish the whole crossword.
24a Ham players paid to start filming instead, entertaining one. Ans is prosciutto (=ham).

Pros =players. entertaining one must mean insert i -but can't see how I get c ut to out of "paid to start filming instead"

No doubt very obvious but not to me, I'm afraid.

Thanks

Cut as in to 'get one's cut' ??
I can only think that "cut to" is a filming expression meaning "move to another camera scene". (i.e. cut to close-up shot of the principal actor)
players paid = pros
start filming = instead = cut to (not 100% convinced of this bit)
one = i
2nd line should read:-

start filming instead = cut to
players who are paid are pros so that takes care of that bit - i think the 'i' is inserted in the phrase 'cut to' which is a script direction that cuts to a scene - still not 100% happy with that though.
Prosciutto
Well done, Dalnek... :-)
