Ed, as you know a lot of users are leaving the question details box blank. In many cases this is because they press the SUBMIT button which is misleadingly placed directly after the Title box. In some cases it's simple user error/laziness. I know this issue on your agenda.
But some users also say they don't even get a question details box- they only get a Title box so they are forced to cram their question into the title box. For example woodelf, who is aregualr and respected user who has this problem.

The Ed's given you a 'sticky',
Is he being tricky !!?
Because he hasn't said a word.
ah, but he's provided a World Cup countdown, which he hopes will distract the masses while things are sorted out...

My first ever 'sticky'. (Sounds a bit rude.) If I'd known it would be a sticky I'd have proof read my post before sending it.
You'll have to stick with it now sunshine!!!
Where can I see your sticky factor? You look the same to me
"But some users also say they don't even get a question details box- they only get a Title box "

Those users are probably typing in the question box and then clicking 'Submit Answer' without ever noticing the detail-box dropping down.

lardhelmet- when you click on Editor's Blog my post is highlighted in yellow and this ensures it stays at the top of the list. That's all.

I thought that society,and that will explain most occurences, but woodelf (who is a regular) has reported recently that he no longer get a question details box any more and someone else reported it today.
Question Author
Hmmm, that's a thought!!
When was the last time the Ed was on AB?
I did notice a sticky question earlier though.....
I agree with society and in view of what jno has said, I am wondering if the ED is acting as a referee for us to have a 'penalty shoot-out' on this one.

Ron
Morning everyone.

Factor, I have emailed Woodelf to try and deal with this problem. There may be issues with certain browsers.

Also, if you are using the "Tab" key to find the "details" part of the question there may be issues. We are still looking into it.

We should be moving the submit button and cleaning up some usability stuff within the next few weeks. Currently the techies are working on a separate project, so we'll just have to hold tight until they're ready.

Question for everyone:

Are you having this problem? If so, what browser are you using?

How are you trying to access the details box? Is it using the Tab key?

Do you find typing in the question box doesn't open the details box?

Thanks everyone.

All the best

Come on Ed,
Tell us what the techies are working-on;
Is it the E/mail problem of vivandorron.!!??
Completely separate from AnswerBank Viv (or Ron) - we have added your issue to the list though and a techie will be looking into as soon as possible.

Thanks for the update, Ed.
No problem Factor. I will try and keep you all as posted as possible!

Spare Ed
If it ain't AB,
Whatever could it be;
That's preventing mail coming through.

We are not blaming you Ed;
And having noted what you've said;
We'll await to see what the techies do.

( Apologies factor30, for us using your thread;
To cotton-on personally to the Ed.)

Best wishes......Viv & Ron.
Hi factor 30,

Sorry to see that you have become unstuck.

You raised important issues and it is obvious that the Ed thought so, because he gave you a 'sticky'. Furthermore, he endeavoured to 'stitch with the thread'. I regard that as a compliment to you.
