I am soon to be scrapping my car...an i was just wondering if there are any things in it that are worth salvaging....its a peugeot 405 auto estate, and i have bought a volkwagen passat, but i wondered if its worth removing various things from it before its crushed...i dont know perhaps bulbs, mirrors, windscreen wiper blades, battery...even tyres etc etc

or is that what the scrap dealers are paying for also?

i know they wont necessarily fit my new car but do people do this usually, or just get rid of the car in total?

i realise you need most things in order to get the car to the scrapyard, but for instance if i was to take the tyres, would they collect it on a lorry...?
i do intend to sell the seats you see...they are real leather in near perfect condition...

just seems such a waste of equipment, that may just be of some use.

thankyou

realistically speaking, unless you either know somebody who wants the spares, or are prepared to have parts sitting about until a buyer turns up for them then just take all the bulbs and fuses (as above)

I'd only remove things like wiper blades, barttery, tyres if they were brand new, and if they happened to fit the new car (or again if you have space to store them until a buyer comes along)

thanks all
yeh thats what i was wondering because the blades, some of the tyres an battery were all only bought relativlet recently, 4-6 months maybe so it seems a shame to just let them be binned...or the scrapyard sell them.

i have placed an ad for other bits like panels, doors etc, which ill wait a bit for an ill just take the removable bits i think
When they scrap the car it does not mean it will all end up in landfill. The breakers themselves will take off many of the bits for resale and the body will go towards the frame for your new car.
