Yet another exorbitant compansation claim, £5Million for loss of earnings and damages for hurt feelings, due to her being replaced by a young white presenter.

She also claims her colleague Steve Scott imitated News at Ten anchor Sir Trevor McDonald, a black weatherman, as well as Pakistani and Irish accents.

Is it racist to imitate an accent? Brummies, Geordies, Cockneys, Scots, Welsh, and Oxford English accents are imitated all the time.

From the Express piece, she is not claiming racism over the impersonations, she is claiming ageism and wrongful dismissal. It is not apparent where the gripe about her co-presenter has come from, but it is not part of the £5million claim.

Is it racist to imitate an accent? Possibly, depends how it was done. certainly ITV will not show the likes of Jim Davidson anymore because his 'comedy accent' is deemed offensive to many.
It seems the racism charge is part of her claim. I have since read a less confused report in the Telegraph.

I don't think immitating accents has to be racist to be offensive.

Go down some pubs in Birmingham and try putting on a comedy balck country accent and see what happens!

I thought it was because they couldn't find a chair big enough for her anymore.

Feebly crying racism (or any other ism, ist orobe) where there is none, gets right up my nose.
