Have worked out everything including the two thematic clued entries but cannot find the hidden name - presumably of 5 letters? Any suggestions where to look in the grid.

I am currently in exactly the same position as you.

But why do you think the hidden name has 5 letters? It does not say that in the preamble as far as I can see.
I'm in the same boat. Assuming we are all happy with the four unclued entries, it's the endgame that has me stumped. By highlighting words beginning with A, B and Q, 16 letters in all they would indeed be two clued entries and one hidden name, but it doesn't shed any light on the last two. And part of me thinks the Q should be the name from one of the works, though I can't see the author.
For the three words I have C and Q for the clued entries, with B the hidden one. I don't have A.
nigel2 The hidden author has 5 letters and the name has 6 letters.I have completed everything but can't figure out the thematic connection with one of the two clued entries (5letters not the Q word)
Have just figured it out - 6 letters not 5 in the clued entry.
Interesting one indeed - If you highlight C(5),B and Q you only shade 15 squares. That was my first thoughts too. The C word is a bit tenuous for the connection. There is another C(6) word which is a name that is associated to the the theme, but I think the A word is the other one.
Must admit the hidden author is still elusive - there are so many who have written about the theme. I agree with jurnerjmw in that the Q is a literary one but no sign of the author in the grid nor the associated name. Am still rolling the pennies
Down to my last penny - but it did drop. I agree with you Ardboe - a 5 lettered author and a 6 lettered name
Well done, twencelas and Ardboe. A tough puzzle. After endless searching I have finally seen the author and name. I don't send them in, but I think I would be going with A (rather than C), B, Q as the highlights
Question Author
Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure I've seen the light.

I have a C (6) and Q (5) as clued entries which are thematic (both literary allusions). I can also
see an A (6) which in my edition of Chambers is an adjective not a noun but could be regarded
as thematic. I can see the B (6) hidden in the grid but cannot see the author. Is the author the
author of the work in which B (6) or Q (5) appear in which case I can't see either? The surnames
of the authors are respectively 11 and 5 so I'm assuming it must be the latter.

There seems to be a genuine (and to my mind preventable) ambiguity with the C (6) and A (6)
as possible options as clued entries (and nothing to distinguish between them). Wonder whether
the setter and editor considered this?
As already stated the author has 5 letters and the character name has 6. They're not connected with the names you already have!
The character name is FROM a 'thematic work'!
I agree with the C & A ambiguity, I think we must toss a coin there!!
Question Author
Any hints where to look for the unrelated author (5) and character (6) which you say is NOT
B (6)? Bit of a needle in a haystack job at the moment! I think the preamble could have been
a lot clearer about what was required.
Nigel2, they are both in the same row or column, not on a diagonal, and each requires the letter switch to reveal them. I'm still unsure which of C and A to go for. I really think it's a toss of a coin job. I now prefer C, actually, because it's more thematically linked with the other highlights.
According to Chambers, A requires \'BODY\' after it to give the required meaning, so I\'d go with C to maintain the literary connection.
The real dilemma is whether the unchecked fourth letter of the unclued entry on the bottom row is D or P - both possible words are thematic - ooops !
