This week's offering is "Joint Wisdom" by Rok.
A fairly straightforward grid fill and a work of art that is worthy of celebration.

midazolam - Fairly straightforward with a few cluing imperfections.
do you mean 31a which should really start 'A tale...', and 37d (Loathe, not loath)?
I quite agree Clamzy. Still not sure whether Diz means Dizzee Rascal or Dizzy Gillespie, mind. I fear there are plenty of Riick Wakeman lookalikes lurking on this thread :)
"Three straight lines through their names". Does this mean three lines for each name, or just three lines to cover all names?
The latter, rabet
Thanks, turnerjmw. I have a completed grid and I can see which letters to remove and which cells to colour, but I can't see how all letters of the names can be "drawn through" with just three straight lines.
Rabet - if you know the work of art, you should be clear about how the lines should go, and with care it can be done. Keep the lines fine!
Ah! Yes, I see it now, thanks.
Well, Mr Thicko is missing the blindingly obvious yet again.

Got the work and know what the three lines should be doing, but am buggered if I can see the requisite names in straight lines. I don't submit so I shan't beat myself up. I'll just ask IntoTheBlue to explain.

I'm of exactly the age to be familiar to this, but my tastes lean rather more to the Dylan & Springsteen kind of stuff (not forgetting old Ludwig of course).
I've finished the grid and worked out the nine letters but no idea what to do next. I've googled the rearranged nine letters but have not come up with any work of art. Any hints where I might find it would be welcome.
Always the same! I post a problem then the answer comes to me. I know absolutely nothing about the theme but I've got the co-creators and I think I know how to draw the lines. I'm not sure how to complete the image but I'll work on it.
The straight lines are straghtforward, but following the instructions in the preamble to the letter (or rather, to the six letters) results in an image that is not even close to the original. A more accurate representation would breach the limitation of six cells. The finale doesn't seem all that satisfactory to me.
I really enjoyed this one, and like last weeks more my level.
Yes, more my level too. I have grid 3/4 filled - top left hand corner giving me a few diffs. I am determined to get this finished - my first ever hopefully....
Turnerjmw - would that be Rick Wakeman circa Gtumpy Old Men or circe 1973 - I'll admit to looking like one of the two.
And Bobbycollins .. the names don't necessarily appear in strict crossword straight lines - but can be joined together using straight lines (a bit like the Everton defence needs right now). Saw Springsteen's final concert on his first UK tour (before stadium gigs got in the way) .. sadly he had to quit after only his sixteenth encore! Never got to see Ludwig though
I was away at the weekend so I only started this last night. Fortunately like CluelessJoe I was Derren Brown after about six clues which made life a lot easier. Nevertheless struggled with the top half and have several wordplay uncertainties which are slowly unravelling - e.g just got 2d by googling the second word and the answer - I suspect I should have known but along with the subject matter I consider myself a bit too young!
Everything fell into place beautifully with no ambiguities...off to the shops for some pencils. Well done, Rok!
I understand how the straight lines work but can't see where the five and six cells are - despite seeing the
relevant image? Any suggestions?
Go back to Wikipedia, type in the six words you have below the grid and examine the image carefully - then you should see the light, one way or another. Hope that helps.
Thanks, Robin Ruth, I think I may have seen the light so to speak. The five letters would appear to be
horizontal and contiguous (somewhat but not completely like the image) and the six letters in the direction
of the line of the image indicating by initials the respective colours.
That was lovely, cluelessjoe. IntoTheBlue showed me the lines - yet another DOOOOH for yours truly. Didn't help myself by overlooking one of the collaborators.

Must have been great to see him circa 1975. My only concert was Roundhay Park circa 1984 - never got to see Dylan, although he played the Liverpool Empire in 1965 - my mum wouldn't allow me to go (I was only 13).

Never got to see Ludwig either, sadly.
BC .. never saw Zim either, despite having seen most other of the biggest acts at that time (my mate was guild electrician at Exeter Uni, so we worked the lights and got into everything for free '68-70). First time I saw this Listener outfit, 1969, there can't have been more than 150 in the audience! Unheralded co-star of the Springsteen gig was Clarence Clemence on sax, a huge stage presence. Saw the Stones in Roundhay Park early 80's .. quite a nice venue, though I do have a Leeds bias.
As for Ludwig, I still have all of his albums .. stand the test of time better than most!
