�20,000 in 1759, what's it worth now?

When the great composer George Frideric Handel died in 1759,he left �20,000 to the Foundling Hospital.
I just wondered what it might be worrth in todays terms?

That's a great site,I must bookmark it.
I knew that �20,000 must be a very large sum in 1759,as 10 years before that sum built the WHOLE of the Foundling Hospital!
