I normally like cryptic crosswords but I find the clues in this one every week leave me rather, if you'll pardon the pun, clueless! Any help appreciated.

10a) Alaskan. (I think it must be Alan for the fellow but I can't work out the rest!)

3d) Rake. (Castle of Rae with k for key.)

23d) Cram. C = about
RM = soldiers
A - admiral.

I used to enjoy doing this but I find it hard going now. Is it us or is it a different compiler???
