Why id Hamlet delaying his revenge aginst Claudius?

In one scene it is because Claudius has just confessed so that he is free of any sins which would send him to heaven. Hamlet's own father has to burn in hell ,though, because he was murdered while he was asleep and so full of sins. Hamlet cannot accept this so he waits which is stupid as Claudius admits that he is simply praying but does not actually mean what he is saying so confession would not have cleared him. He is also occupied with his thoughts concerning suicide all the time.
