The answer should be CHIMERA, are you sure there should be another letter after the M, as I've never seen a different spelling for this. It's from Greek mythology if you want to find out more about it.

little gem is right chimaeras....sometimes they leave the a out

As far as I can see, there was only one Lion headed, Serpent tailed monster, and her name was Chimaera. So where does the plural come in? Has anyone any views on that.?
