I can hardly get off the ground on this one; I've not encountered a puzzle of this style before.
Any chance of a leg up with some answers? These ones would be useful:

8D Are pirates regularly plundered when ramping ropy thesps? (6)

9D Cait as balance for Gerry's below Virginia in Twister? (11)

10D Boost for the environment cultivated in healthy sanguineous scar (11)

I've only had time to devote about five minutes to it this week...pretty much as usual!..but, as it happens, 9D is the only one I spotted immediately. The answer is 'countervail'. That's 'co/il' = twister around 'unter' = German (Gerry) for 'below' and VA = abbreviation for Virginia. 'Cait' is the word with an extra letter...the 'i'...and the anagram (jumble) of 'cat' is 'act'. So, 'act as balance' = countervail.
Of course, since that's as far as I'd got, I've no idea whether that is what you actually have to put into the grid! (See instructions.) Cheers

Thanks! The first one I got was MOOT at 5D - I've been doing Azed since Sunday.
It's hard to put anything in the grid, of course, because some answers have to be jumbled.
Thanks again.
I've been struggling quite a bit with this one too. The surface reading of quite a few clues is rather ropey and I can't help but feel that once answers have been found, it'll be quite obvious how they're derived!
Anyway, I've got:
6A : Reach (Make (REACH) rector (R) a head (EACH)); entered jumbled

26A Scilla (if memory serves) (Genus of LILIES...)
32A : can't help but think this is probably "I may have orange yellow WINGS..." alluding to an insect or butterfly perhaps.

3D: Bona (City in northern italy (BOLOGNA) has no central LOG...)

28D : think this is CORE (corporation (CO) accepting rupees (RE), and i'm guessing a letter should be removed from vendor and re-arranged to give the defn, but could be wrong.

32A I'm pretty certain the clue should be "I may have orange-yellow *wings* and my needles in capitals." Spare letter E.

31A is AORTIC, spare letter V from arrestive.
6a anagram of 'reach' is rache (hunting dog) the words quarry and hunt are in preamble ? mm
32a: Cleopatra

But 9D is probably a jumbled COUNTERVAIL
No, 9d will be entered normally, as its clue has a jumbled definition (Cait ---> act)

C
10d: Haematocele

Give it a while, Mad Max! There's a lot of progress being made by everyone except me and someone might soon spot the raisindetteraaah of the puzzle!
I warn you now - it's pretty obscure...
