22 across - Britisher abroad in big jumper, tie-dyed fabric (7). Is anyone else puzzled by this? I'm sure it's ROOIKAT (roo = big jumper; ikat = tie-dyed fabric), but the definition of rooikat is African lynx. A Britisher abroad could be rooinek, but that doesn't fit the cryptic part of the clue or with the other letters in the grid.

I also wondered about this but as it was the last one and it fitted with all the other letters I went with Rooikat.

Although the rooi part means red ( as the English abroad are seen) I cannot follow the cat bit.

Too late I've sent it in!
I don't do this crossword, but I 've checked your words and logic and you seem right. Rooinek - redneck.

I'm wondering whether the setter has mis-remembered the word and not checked. Very lax.

It seemed clear to me that - as the words rooikat and rooinek are contiguous in Chambers - the setter had simply misread one of the meanings given, as if it applied to the preceding word! Rooikat is clearly what is required, though it equally clearly doesn't mean what is claimed!
I'm all behind this week, only just had a chance to do Azed, otherwise I'd have posted the same query. I think QM's analysis is correct. Quite a surprising slip-up.

Good luck with your entry K, I was a winner with Azed 1811.
