I thought Nap was a card game, also known as Napoleon (in a prolonged form) and that Napoleon was a general, never thought of General Lee, one E too many, anyway.


Once in to this puzzle it seemed to be easier to find answers than explanations, and I'm still not completely convinced about them all.
