Rather gentle clues but lots of fun and a favourite song.

Thanks, Samson.

I enjoyed the endgame but the clues, I'm afraid, were too straightforward for The Listener.

Thanks, Samson.

"Gentle" is rather generous. But love the song

I don't time my solves, but this was probably the record. I completed it just before Mrs Hawk emerged from the bathroom. (I can complete most Sabres before daughter Hawk emerges from the bathroom, but I digress)

Having said that, I love the neatness of the grid, and the choice of theme - something that always brings a smile.

I think what made this one so simple to solve was the choice to put (and declare) misprints only in the wordplay. Those in definitions are tougher, and those anywhere in the clue toughest of all. Still, it means I can recommend this puzzle to friends who have never managed to solve a Listener.

I wasn't entirely accurate there - it was extra letters, not misprints, wasn't it? Still, leaving definitions unaltered means they can be looked up directly.

I'm sure I've seen this theme before.  Maybe it was an EV?

Quite fun anyway. Husband is impressed when I do a Listener quickly. He doesn't have to know it's an easy one!

That was very jolly and prompted a listen to the song - which was good fun too.

Thanks Samson

Always happy to have an easier ride - although I'll be left with the earworm for the rest of the weekend. As ever I'm amazed at how much information setters can hide away in a grid in plain sight

Pleasant occasionally to have one where the pencil never leaves the page.
