An early PDM gave us some impetus as did the large amount of thematic material.

A interesting piece of history in the final instruction.

Thanks, Artix.

Agreed. Some fascinating history. Certainly became easier once I tumbled to method of shortening
Was led astray by what I thought was a very clever reading of the preamble - nothing of the sort, of course, unless it was a deliberate piece of misdirection.

Most (all?) of us use the internet, Google, wiki to help our solving but this appears to be a puzzle where these sources are integral to completion.
Phew, quite a workout. Some tough clues.

I presume the final result has a specific meaning in the system.

Thanks, Artix.
I thought I might return to having a go at Listeners after a long absence!

Oh, it's Artix? Never mind then, he's too tough for me :P
Enjoyed solving several of the clues eg 3d and 4d.

Good decision on your part - it's one of those infuriating puzzles where even if I could complete the grid (I wish) the endgame is impossible for me to fathom, despite my working out the instruction, and who 1dn is, and how to adjust the 7 entries.

One for the connoisseur I guess!
A lot of it is down to practice (and patience). I used to be able to attempt these sorts of puzzle and sure they'd take a lot longer than, say, a Nutmeg or Chalicea, but I could get there in the end. Starting from the beginning of how to attempt these again, though? That and Artix's cluing style being quite hard for me anyhow? No hope :P

Maybe if I had half a dozen entries to get me started or something. That or just hope that next week's isn't also a beast.
Wonderful puzzle. Thanks, Artix.
A tough puzzle with a notably rambling theme. I fell into one enormous trap which I'm sure was entirely intentional - nice one, Artix.

There's something slightly dissatisfying about the final instruction, but other than that it was very enjoyable indeed, with many superb clues.
Catching up after a week off - this was hard.

The bottom half of the grid surrendered quite quickly, but the top took much longer than it should have - an incorrect early guess at the location in 20ac didn't help either.

Nice final bit of info to reward the effort to finish though.

Thanks Artix.
