I am finding the end game (one clue) too tricky. Unless I have erred.
Breezed through the clued.
Got the theme
Got the link to both
Got the five for the second part
and 3 out of the 4 for the first part
Really struggling to see the last one at 2d (I have 2 options) and neither make sense (unless i'm looking for a Name) ?
I don't want the answer. But a nudge would be nice.
Thank you :-)

Many thanks for confirming my "relatively famous", Klazo! I was looking
at 9d. I'm going after the other one now.
Question Author
relatively famous regarding his FIRST name IS the name of the second part of the theme.

Use that throw away before it gets deleted !
Klazo, thank goodness you came to the rescue re Matakari's idea of the 'couple' - I was worried where that was going!
Question Author
Lol NAC, I've had wine. Anything can happen ;-)

Got some prosecco when that's finished. Not my fault, they've been in the fridge too long.
Scientist...?
Question Author
Physicist. But I knew what he meant.
The theory of relativity.
Sure thing, Tilly2, a scientist... And thanks to the luminaries, Klazo and NACW,
it has all fallen into place. I decided to persevere and I'm glad I did!
Question Author
Hi NAC, 36 hrs have passed since matakari started this puzzle. I have offered a throw away email to try and assist him with some 'One-on-One' help (without giving too much away for others who are doing this crossword)

I have no intentions of Matakari leaving the Spectator threads. But I am going to try and bring him up to speed. (No disrespect intended Matakari)
But as you have said on so many occasions, He is not grasping everything instantly. So I will (if He wants) offer my free time to help.

I learnt from some of the greats on here showing me how parses work. If we can instill that in Matakari, He will be helping others rather than the other way round. I will try and teach him what I know for him to achieve this.
Question Author
Yes my friend :-)
A little late (but it's all about getting there) No one said it was a race :-)
Thanks, Klazo - an interesting and very kind post from you. I'm afraid I get a little frustrated at times when I feel the best use isn't being made of the help given - after more than 10 years, I don't know what else, what more we can do! Some of AB's finest have given detailed parsings for literally 100s of Spectator puzzles, perhaps you will succeed where all others have failed!
Matakari, I'm still keen for you to become a helper rather than a helpee!
Many thanks, Klazo, for your very generous and selfless offer
to bring me up to speed. I appreciate it this very much and can
assure you that your efforts will not be in vain.Un grand merci,
mon ami!
Some of these responses to matakari - especially those by neveracrossword are, quite frankly, patronising and condescending. If you don’t want to continue offering assistance then don’t post.
Question Author
On the contrary Toorak. Me and Matakari became friends a little while ago. I was offering my assistance (Not belittling him).
Matakari can take or refuse my offer. But it was meant sincerely. NAC has given (and explained) over numerous threads that She has tried to help. And also has said that (I) A newcomer may be the one to help. I offered that assistance with no intention of malice to Matakari.
I wish I hadn't bothered now as my throw away email was not reciprocated.
I feel this is a case of 'Damned if you do and damned if you don't'

Matakari, I sincerely did not mean any offence. My apologies if it came across that way.

No need to fall out here (in crosswords) This is our sacred place !
In response to Toorak's post at 2209, I have had kindness and humour from Klazo and this is much appreciated. However, I am getting tired of the repetitive condescending comments from NAC towards Matakari. Please, NAC , be a little more thoughtful towards our 'friend'

Good day, Klazo, I wish to repeat that I accept your generous and unstinting help and feel assured that it has been offered with good intentions. I thank you again for your contact e-mail which I will not hesitate to use. I appreciate the concern and kindness of Toorak and FreyaBee vis-à-vis NACW's approach in offering help. His patience is sometimes easily stretched to the limit and he just cannot help speaking his mind without aiming to hurt, I would like to think. Anyhow, the ABs here are very helpful, understanding, and also quite sensitive to solvers' needs. I'm certain ProfessorMaisie and Roslyn251254 would have much to say about this. As a community of solvers, we must continue to live in peace and harmony. Many thanks again to all!
You do not know that NACW is female after all this time, Matakari?

Just goes to show that if you change the 'e' for a 'c' in your first name and then rearrange the letters, that is what you are. Isn't that right, Matakari?

Banned by a number of setters and still wasting your time on them!
Matakari, I believe NAC is a female.
Llanfair, that's a bit criptic.
Could you explain please.
Did I really type criptic.
Cryptic!
Matakari, I have never once 'aimed to hurt', but I obviously have at times - so I apologise for that. Although I may have let my frustration boil over occasionally, I also know that I have helped you with literally hundreds of clues, hundreds of parsings. I also know that I have stuck up for you in the past (and the fairly recent past) when others have complained about the amount of help you request. I have always hoped that you would get the same pleasure and satisfaction from the Spectator puzzle as many of us do. I was genuinely relieved when you said 'Klazo's efforts would not be in vain', I'd be so thrilled for you to join the SAS (Spectator Appreciation Society).
