I have decided that tomorrow will be Christmas Day!

At least for the two of us. For a change we decided to have some roast beef, which had to be put in the freezer when OH was admitted to hospital. I shall be reducing portion sizes and not doing the usual high number of different veg, but looking forward to it tremendously.

I have put some of my special sausage rolls in the oven, just to set the mood :)

Oh I am so pleased that you are finally getting your Xmas dinner

Cheers Red :)
It is quite symbolic for me. Just thought I would share how I feel.
Absolutely and so you should.
We are having scampi and chips

I have that too in the freezer. OH's appetite is severely diminished and suggested we get a microwave and some small ready meals. Made me feel chilled to the bone - I love to cook and produce well-balanced meals that look appetising and taste lovely.
Hope it all goes well for you choux. Enjoy!
I've made no secret that I rarely cook and don't enjoy it whereas OH does. Tonight he is finally going to try and re-create a starter type dish we had on holiday in Spain last year- shoestring fries with Iberian ham and eggs. I had to buy him a mandoline to do the potatoes with as an Xmas present. Hope it turns out well or he will be disappointed.

Thank you, Prudie. Are you in charge of wine then, just to partake of meal prep ;) ?

That has reminded me to look out a bottle from the cellar for tomorrow - I may be gone for some time :)))
Well I have enough advocaat left for 2 more snowballs :-) Other than that I only clear up the mess afterwards.
I have in the freezer some mini roast lamb meals from M&S and they are lovely and just the right size for me

You are a smart girl, Prudie :)

I looked locally for a new mandolin beginning of December. I think my strings are blunt...
Oh…….. Merry Christmas for tomorrow choux and mr. C.
Oooh, choux, sounds right up my street, yum!
We’ve just treated ourselves to some sausage baguettes, the sausages are our local butchers home made ones, they’re the only sausages I buy. We had a bottle of fizz with them as a real treat, getting ready for himselfs birthday tomorrow.
Later I think we’ll just have crackers and cheese or similar, and probably another cake from this box of them which were delivered yesterday.
Whatever took your other half into hospital, I’m so glad for you that he’s out and looking forward to his Christmas dinner later.
And now I need to buy scampi, Helen :)
Enjoy :o)

We've just had brunch of toasted sandwiches and I'm making ratatouille later which we'll have with rice.

Thank you, one and all.
Vagus, it was an ambulance on blues and twos on 21st December ;)
OH got a Christmas dinner on 25th and I had sweet Fanny Adams. When I got home late that night I ate some cheese and biscuits (I think). It really didn't matter. I just tried to eat one small meal a day to help with my meds. I wish your OH a Happy Birthday for tomorrow.
Ooh, choux, that must have been terrifying :(
My OH was on the verge of being hospitalised last February and I found that scary enough. It prompted us to buy me a small car again, I’d stopped driving about 5 or 6 years ago and sold my car but I felt very isolated when he was ill. I’m still having to psych myself up when I get behind the wheel.
I’m sure you’ll both thoroughly enjoy your meal tomorrow, and your special sausage rolls today.
Thank you for the birthday wishes, we’ll be enjoying our rib eye steaks, beer battered onion rings, etc., while you’re tucking into your Christmas grub xx
What’s the secret to the special roll choux?
Merry Christmas to you and OH choux...hope it's fabulous.

I'm having baked cauli rice risotto. It's supposed to have mushrooms but I didn't remember to buy them...so will have spinach in it. Topped with Taleggio cheese and baked until golden and ooozy :)
Ooops...and a Happy Birthday to your OH vagus.
Prudie

//I had to buy him a mandoline ..//

Will he be having lessons from Captain Corelli?
I'm having cereal :)
Choice of two... Either chicken tikka masala, with rice, and salad or Scouse with bread and pickled beetroot ( no red cabbage which is more traditional). Haven't decided yet
