How times have changed. But wait a minute ---have they ? Today we are back to cold unheated houses with some people saying they can't afford to put the heating on. Some nurses in full time work with decent salaries saying that they have to use food banks. Children having to have breakfast at school and free dinners, Lots of people unable to get doctors or hospital...

The invention of washing machines and dishwashers. No more standing in front of the sink for hours or grappling with a mangle.

Mattresses were stuffed with straw or horse hair when Bobbs was a lass. :))

Don't forget that back then it was ok to take longer on daily household chores. Housewives did not have to hurry to spend time on social media or going out with others who lunched. The wage earner would pass over housekeeping money and it was sorted out according to needs. Housewives would go shopping, on foot and not by car, to various local shops and buy sparingly for a balanced meal. No on-line deliveries, no perusing retail opportunities and paying by plastic. Then it was a question of saving up and buying what you could afford once you had saved enough, often second hand. Mums stayed at home to bring up their children rather than paying someone else to have that responsibility.

I think it is a shame we have lost some of the old values and practices.
People knew the difference between Their, There, and They're.

Not to mention where, were and we're.
I want to know when the 'good old days' were. I think I might have missed them.
