After five days of using Efudix for an abnormal freckle, the top layer of skin seems to have come off and the skin is pinky red. Apparently I will get blistering, peeling and cracking of the skin (ugh). The treated skin will then flake away. But now the skin doesn’t seem so dry and peeling, do I still need to apply Efudix, as my doctor told me, for a further couple of weeks until I see him again?? Thanks all.

I used Efudix recently and before treatment my skin was peeling and a bit crusty. As you’ve said it seemed to improve fairly quickly but I was told to complete the course prior to treatment starting. I was also told of the side effects but they weren’t as bad as I expected.

Thanks Milo. My skin looks a bit like Stage 3 in the scary blog below…. Does it spread like this even if you only use Efudix in one small place on the face? And should I continue to use it for a couple more weeks? It’s just a tiny bit itchy at the moment. Crikey … thanks again. Sorry it’s so hard to get hold of the doctor at the moment….

you could try asking your chemist for advice if you can't find your doctor
Yes, continue using the cream for another week.

Thanks Sqad. Will the redness spread across the face (so vain) or just treat the area I am using the cream on?
I applied the cream with a cotton bud so that I could try and just treat the affected area. It did become very red but didn’t spread. I used it for the time recommended by the doctor.

Thanks for that Milo, I was a bit worried after seeing the photos in that blog in my link. Phew.
