Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Just play around with a few words and weave them into a short phrase.

eg
Nutmeg is a barrel back + a jewel back.

Cardamom gives scope for a Mother's day type clue.

Surely helping with a tie break is wrong. You have given an example Lynne how do you know they won't use that

A tie-breaker asking another question similar to those in the main quiz, could result in many also getting that one correct.

As the questions appear to be cryptic, a factual question based on the amount or value of nutmeg selt in this country in a named year could be posed.

The more difficult it is to find the answer, the more chance that folk would have to guess and the nearest wins.

Have given two suggestions for nut and meg but they would need to be woven into a phrase - surely you can see that.

We try to assist people here and not everyone is well versed in the way cryptics work.

to smouse i have done quizzes but havent done a tie breaker thats perhaps why i havent qon i wondnt have asked for help if i knew how to phrase the question tiffy
