I am having difficulty working out the theme. I do not have Brewer.

the walkers bit is correct...
try the universal crossword solver
it has the required apostrophe....the 1st 4 letters give you the theme/little man...
I think you'll be able to google the answers or use universal crossword solver ...so you shouldn't need Brewer
