Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

I have got quite a few answers.
But am unable to figure out the manipulation bit.

You have to shift the letters in the alphabet for each letter. The number of letters you shift is different for each answer though.

For instance 4d answer parses to WEAR
To input this you need a crosser solved first.
The last letter of 7a is an A
So now comapare the A of 7 across with the "E" of Wear
The alphabet shifts 4 letters backwards
E becomes A
Therefore W - 4 letters = S
A - 4 letters = W
R - 4 letters = N
Therefore the input = SAWN
WEAR becomes SAWN for input

Every word coded and input is a legitimate word, but the number of letters you have to shift is not always 4. It can be 2, 1, 10, 8 whatever,

Wow. Great help.
Since some answers don't need encoding how would I know which do and don't?

A rule of thumb, if 2 answers that cross, have a letter that does not clash, then they are straight clues. I'll give you another clue, each manipulated answer is either 4 or 5 letters only.
