We had a burst water pipe on Saturday which flooded the hallway. In the ensuing chaos I managed to pull my back and now I am in utter agony and can't straighten up. Last night my husband made me a hot water bottle, using boiling water. As I tried to reposition myself I momentarily placed the hot water bottle on my lap. It then burst and I had boiling water all over my lap and down my legs. Now I'm in agony AND badly burnt.

I mean, what the hell else could go wrong?

I hope you are all having better luck than me....

That's quite a catalogue of woes Lcg, hope you feel better very soon x
Oh hell Lcg that's awful, the cap on the hot water bottle must have been loose, you really should go to you A&E department for the burns xx
I hope you've had your scalds properly treated. I still have the scars from over 50 years ago

It burst at the bottom, Bobbi, probably from a lifetime of being filled with boiling water straight from the kettle by a 6ft numpty.
Please go and get those burns looked at lcg
Question Author
Bobbi, I'm in too much agony to go anywhere. I doubt I'd get in and out of the car without howling.
Oh that's a shame , sadly I can't think of an alternative for you, I hope it heals without scarring xx

Well, thankfully I had thick loungewear on. My legs were bright red but no blistering or peeling, thankfully.
LCG definitely a visit to A & E is in order, untreated burns and scalds can lead to no end of issues. In the meantime get some pain relief from your GP for your back. Wishing you all the best.

I think the emergency wine helped.
Does your GP not do home visits or telephone consultations?
Burns are notorious for infections.

Are you blistered?
Question Author
Probably, yes, but I have a chest full of painkillers and there's little they can do for my legs. As I said, there's not been any blistering or peeling, just stark redness which has gone down a bit now thanks to frozen cloths.
I missed your post where you said no blistering.
That's good Lcg, get plastered;-)
Sorry, just trying to cheer you up.
Painful, very painful but sound superficial which end to be the most painful of burns.
I agree from your description a visit to A&E is not necessary.
Take your painkillers and another glass of wine.
crikey i thought i was doing badly, hope you get treatment soon and begin to feel better.
Question Author
No wine - I've got work tomorrow.

Time for some more painkillers and Ibuprofen gel soon though.
Watch out for repetitive strain injury on your fingers.
Sorry to hear this Lcg, wishing you a speedy recovery x
