To cool us down
I'm no medic but I would assume it's that your temperature is up and your body is fighting hard to get rid of the nasties.

i am sweating profusely it's horrible, one minute pouring then cold as ice....
Question Author
anyone have the same experiences...
Yes, I've had flu twice and had dreadful sweats and chills.
You're probably cold because of the sweating. You sweat to cool down but it makes your body damp so you really feel the cold.
Yes I know its called a cold.
Having said that, when I've had flu there is no way I could have been posting online, I couldn't lift my head from the pillow and my arms were like lead.

teacake, i am at loss for words, rarely does that happen
yeah - called rigors
I think even Hippocrates knew about them 300BC

paracetamol makes you sweat and thereby brings down the temp

see wiki on Fever - standard treatment ( of the subject of Fever rather than crazy loo-loo stuff)
^^ sorry??
Question Author
barry, not sure what i have, covid possibly but certainly a bad cold.
Question Author
does it help to sweat it out.

read the link, does make sense chris.

Not entirely sure but once you break a sweat it means you're on the mend. Either that or its the pain killers causing it by bringing your temperature down so the heat escapes.
Emmie, I'm pretty sure you don't have 'flu. If you did there's no way you would be posting regular updates of your ailments on here. You'd be in bed and pretty incapable of doing anything other than dragging yourself to the loo and back when necessary.
If you had flu or covid you would be lifeless in bed, but sweating is expelling the cold bug from you're body.
Have you had a recent blood test for diabetes. Sweating can be a symptom
Question Author
have had the flu any number of times in the long distant past and yes one is pretty much wiped out.
