Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Chambers has RANT as a lively tune.
T for tenor, not sure how RAN = followed (by)

I selected CANT for this making: can. (abbrev for tune or melody) followed by t(enor) and Chambers has the answer as scottish for lively.

In the words of Roy Walker, "It's good, but it's not right." The main problem with CANT is that while 'can.' is given by Chambers as an abbreviation for both cantata and canto, it is not an abbreviation for the word 'tune' itself, nor (unlike AA or CD, say) does it have a separate existence in everyday usage. If 'tune' for CAN were to be accepted, then 'vessel' would be ok for BOT (=bottle) and 'end' for CON (=conclusion).

The clue works perfectly for RANT.

Yes, I started in the same place as iminoz ie 'ran = followed'??? but delving into the Chambers entry for 'run' it does indeed say 'follow' and I was diverted by 'cant = lively' and rather made it fit.
