Like its predecessors this week's Everyman had one or two real brain-teasers. 5 Across "Where Tamworth is, in the sticks" was probably a reasonable clue for UK readers but confusing for Oz readers who immediately think of the well-known town Tamworth in country New South Wales. The stick/staff synonym came to me eventually but I couldn't see the relevance of Tamworth at all. Until finally I googled Tamworth and found the town Tamworth (probably the original) in Staffordshire. A brilliant clue and of course I should have known the setter wasn't referring to Tamworth NSW.
