It maybe easier to think of your holiday entitlement in hours.
Do you work a set number of hours per day? Or set number of days per week?
Can't help, Nails but just wanted to say I hope it all works out for you. x
If you normally work x hours a day and you take a day's holiday from your entitlement you'll get x hours pay
There's a calculator on that link.

Cheers all, will check the link out in a bit, thanks.
Im not actually sure yet how they are working the hours out, just that they are spread over 3 days (Tue, Wed & Thur)
If you work a se pattern it's pretty straightforward. If you work say 5 hours Tuesday, 5 hours Wednesday and 4 hours Thursday you'll get paid 5 hours for a paid holiday on Tues/Wed or 4hours for a Thursday. There are issues regarding public/bank holidays though

Thanks again all.
Just had a go on the calculator on the link and its come back as
//The statutory entitlement is 78 hours and 24 minutes holiday.//
Don't know how im going to fit the 24 mins in, lol!
I worked zero hours contract (plenty of work) and got paid holiday pay every quarter going by the hours I'd worked. It was just like a little bonus because I only booked the shifts I wanted to work around the kids.
If you are doing fairly set hours, nailit, they should give you a letter with the number of hours you are entitled to, off paid per year. If you have started partway through their annual leave year, it will be slightly less. But will be based on the number of hours you work on average.
It used to be the average hours of 12 weeks in a row, that you got paid for the 13th week off, although I think that has changed now so that you can take annual leave at different times.

Thank you ummm and pixie for additional answers. Just been through all the paperwork/induction malarkey today. They have actually 'officialy' started me from last week (1st May) so that I can get my first payday at the end of the month instead of having to wait until the next payday. Asked about holiday pay but was told that it hadn't been worked out yet (as the project manager is away for a few days) but should get a definitive answer this week.

And although today hasn't been any different from the previous 9 months that ive been there voluntarily, its been a good feeling to know that someone was willing to give me a chance and to earn my own crust :-)
Well done. Be proud of yourself x
I'm glad :-). You deserved a break and I'm pleased they realised that- you earned it. Do you know which month their calculations start and finish for annual leave? It can be different at different places, and you need to know so that you don't risk losing it x

Thanks Ummmm & Pix :-)

//Do you know which month their calculations start and finish for annual leave? It can be different at different places//
No I don't. Ive been out of the workplace for so long that I havnt a clue now as to how its all worked out.
Its a learning curve...
No problem, but ask them. If you build some annual leave up, you don't want to lose it just because they randomly go from July to July or whatever. They will be able to tell you everything you need to know x
When I ran a business I went by their start dates. Every employee had a file.

You can access all their info from the payroll.
Maybe so, ummmm... but they all work differently.
Most players work either a April to march or Jan to Dec year. If they start April you will have 11 months of a years entitlement. Basic entitlement is 28 days Inc bank holidays or 5.6 weeks. Your calculation of 78 hours just over is 14 hours X 5.6.
So if 5.6 weeks is what they allow, and their leave year starts April you will have 71.8 hours (78.4 divided by 12 months X 11 months). If it is from Jan it will be 45.75
