House rules here say can't start a new crossword till old ones finished...

Asking for help with:
6d: Old-fashioned sweetheart's somewhere in France (2, 4). We have *E *A**
Le Mans? But if so, why?
14ac: Old policeman's way to block dodgy dealer (8). We have L***R**E.

Many thanks and a happy new year to all.
